A Fresh New Look for Little ‘Lato
— Same Gelato You Love, Just a Little More Grown Up!
Little ’Lato has a brand-new look — still the gelato you adore, just a little more grown up. After eight years of scooping, swirling, experimenting, laughing, crying, and doing all the things that come with building a gelato brand from scratch, it felt like the right moment for a refresh.
From the day we opened our very first gelato hub with Crave Café (yes… on December 18, right in the middle of Christmas chaos), this journey has been full of every emotion imaginable — often all at once. And we wouldn’t change a thing.
This new look is about bringing the Little ’Lato spirit to life in a more elevated, expressive way, while staying true to everything that makes us us. It sets the tone for the next chapter of New Zealand’s best ice cream, gelato, and dairy-free gelato — and we’re so excited to share it with you.
Highlights From the Journey (So Far)
Shifting the Game in NZ Ice Cream
We’ve always been on a mission to grow a love for authentic Italian gelato here in Aotearoa — honouring traditional Italian techniques while adding our own Kiwi flair. We are creating a love of gelato here in a country that is big on ice cream!
We’ve now won more than 120 awards, including being named Supreme Champion twice at the New Zealand Ice Cream & Gelato Awards.
· In 2022, we became the first gelato to ever win Supreme Champion.
· In 2024, we did it again — this time with a dairy-free flavour, another first for NZ.
From Best Gelato to Best Dairy-Free to Sustainability Champion, the recognition has been wide-ranging… and honestly, a little surreal.
Growing, Scooping, and Spreading Joy
Over the years, Little ’Lato has grown in all the best ways:
· Supplying gelato to incredible cafés and restaurants across the country
· Launching pints into boutique grocers like Farro Fresh
· Opening our own gelato parlours (complete with our signature terrazzo)
· Rolling out event freezers
· Creating cakes, cupcakes, home-delivery subscriptions and more
And of course… flavours. So many flavours. We’ve developed more than 500 — from collabs with amazing New Zealand brands, to mind-blowing vegan creations, to the occasional weird and wonderful experiment (Massaman Curry or Mince & Cheese Pie, anyone?).

Inclusivity has always been part of our DNA. That’s why we’ve built one of NZ’s widest ranges of vegan and dairy-free gelato, crafted with the same creativity, indulgence, and care as everything else in our cabinet. No one misses out on a Little ’Lato moment!

SCOOPING UP SUNSHINE - Little ‘Lato is made to lift your day — full of flavour, full of joy, and bursting with feelgood energy. It’s gelato that tastes like summer, feels like sunshine and makes the everyday moments a little bit brighter. Fun fact, Lato actually means “summer” in Polish!
LITTLE, LOCAL AND WELCOMING - Little ‘Lato is the kind of place that feels like home - relaxed, friendly, and made for real moments with real people. We’re proud to be little, local and always up for a chat!
MADE THE ITALIAN WAY - We take our cues from the gelaterias of Italy — where flavour is celebrated, craft matters and joy is always on the menu. We’re using traditional techniques to bring authentic European gelato to Aotearoa.
